Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition caused by autoimmune destruction of melanocytes, the pigment producing cells. It can be associated with other autoimmune disorders, such as autoimmune thyroid dysfunction. Vitiligo presents with well-demarcated pale depigmented macules or patches. Vitiligo can be segmental (unilateral along skin dermatomes ) or nonsegmental (any part of the body most often seen in areas with repetitive friction such as the axillae).
